Geoff Tate
Born in Stuttgart, West Germany to American parents, Geoff Tate grew up in Tacoma, Washington, where he played in the groups Babylon and then Myth before joining Queensrÿche definitively in the early 1980s. Geoff Tate's trajectory is rooted in heavy metal with a strong progressive dimension, blending melodic hard rock, narrative compositions and a clear, theatrically inflected vocal style. With Queensrÿche he accompanied the band's evolution across several key albums in their discography, including The Warning (1984), Rage for Order (1986), Operation: Mindcrime (1988), Empire (1990) and Promised Land (1994), in a register that combines metal tension, more sophisticated arrangements and conceptual songwriting. After leaving Queensrÿche in 2012, Geoff Tate continued under his own name with Geoff Tate (2002) and Kings & Thieves (2012), then revived a group dynamic with Operation: Mindcrime, a project centered on concept albums including The Key (2015), Resurrection (2016) and The New Reality (2017). He has also taken part in various studio collaborations over the years while continuing to perform a repertoire linked to progressive metal and hard rock on stage.
