Jagged Edge

Formed in Atlanta in the mid-1990s, Jagged Edge brings together twins Brian and Brandon Casey with Richard Wingo and Kyle Norman in a contemporary R&B quartet nourished by gospel, soul and slow jams, with a pronounced taste for vocal harmonies and melodic refrains. Discovered in the Atlanta scene’s entourage and then signed to So So Def by Jermaine Dupri, Jagged Edge released A Jagged Era in 1997 before taking a more visible place with J.E. Heartbreak in 2000, notably supported by tracks like Let’s Get Married, He Can’t Love U and Promise. The group followed up with Jagged Little Thrill in 2001, where their R&B opened more to groove-oriented tracks like Where the Party At, then with Hard in 2003, which extended this balance between sentimental ballads and more direct productions. Over the 2000s, Jagged Edge remained associated with writing centered on romantic relationships, flexible voices and a sound rooted in the American R&B of its era, while changing labels and continuing their live activity. Their discography also includes Jagged Edge (2006), Baby Makin’ Project (2007), The Remedy (2011), J.E. Heartbreak 2 (2014), Layover (2017) and A Jagged Love Story (2020), in a continuity faithful to the group’s vocal identity.
