Jack White
Born in Detroit, Michigan as John Anthony Gillis, Jack White rose to prominence around the turn of the 2000s with The White Stripes, a duo formed with Meg White whose stripped-down songwriting—between garage rock, blues rock and punk blues—re-emphasized a direct approach to riff and vocal delivery. After the group ended, Jack White expanded his trajectory with projects such as The Raconteurs alongside Brendan Benson, The Dead Weather, and a solo career launched with Blunderbuss in 2012, followed by Lazaretto (2014), Boarding House Reach (2018), and Fear of the Dawn and Entering Heaven Alive in 2022. Long based in Nashville, where he founded the Third Man Records label, he gradually broadened his musical vocabulary by blending raw rock with folk, country, soul and experimental touches, while maintaining an aesthetic marked by short structures, abrasive guitars and a strong affinity for forms inherited from American blues. In 2024 Jack White released No Name, continuing a career split between bands, production and personal projects.
