Fucked Up
Formed in Toronto in 2001, Fucked Up initially established itself in the Canadian hardcore punk scene before gradually widening its scope toward post-hardcore, indie rock, and more experimental forms. The band brings together Damian Abraham on vocals with Mike Haliechuk, Josh Zucker, Sandy Miranda, and Jonah Falco, a trajectory defined as much by the intensity of early singles and EPs as by a lasting taste for ambitious formats and constructed narratives. After the 2004 compilation Epics in Minutes, Fucked Up released Hidden World in 2006, followed by The Chemistry of Common Life in 2008, an album that established a denser writing style, blending punk energy, melodic motifs, and long-form compositions. David Comes to Life in 2011 pushed the concept album logic further, while Glass Boys in 2014, Dose Your Dreams in 2018, Year of the Horse in 2021, then One Day in 2023 and Another Day in 2024 extended this evolution without breaking the band's frontward energy. On stage as in the studio, Fucked Up works a constant contrast between Abraham's abrasive voice, highly structured guitars, and a construction that draws as much from hardcore as from narrative rock. Their trajectory also includes a parallel zodiac-related project, as well as numerous short releases that occupy an important place in their discography.
