Future Of The Left

Born in Cardiff in the mid-2000s in the wake of the end of Mclusky and Jarcrew, Future Of The Left develops a taut rock that blends alternative rock, noise rock and post-hardcore, with angular tracks, a pronounced sense of dissonance, and a writing style that is often abrasive. Around Andrew Falkous and drummer Jack Egglestone, the band first takes shape with Kelson Mathias, before evolving through lineup changes; Julia Ruzicka, who previously passed through Million Dead, later joins the group permanently and redefines its balance. From Curses in 2007, Future Of The Left asserts an identity that preserves the nervous energy of its punk and noise origins while occasionally integrating more synthetic textures. This direction continues on Travels with Myself and Another in 2009, then on The Plot Against Common Sense in 2012, How to Stop Your Brain in an Accident in 2013 and The Peace & Truce of Future of the Left in 2016. Used to British indie circuits and touring in Europe as well as North America, Future Of The Left is part of a rock scene where urgency, irony and rhythmic density occupy a central place.
