I-F (Interr Ference)
Based in The Hague, Netherlands, producer and DJ I‑F, also known as Interr Ference and born Ferenc van der Sluijs, became part of the local electronic scene in the early 1990s around the Bunker Records label and the Unit Moebius collective. I‑F developed a sound combining electro, italo disco, techno and new wave influences, featuring direct structures, prominent melodic lines and an often dark, minimalist aesthetic. In the mid‑1990s he released several 12" records and drew attention with the track "Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass" in 1997, which accompanied a renewed interest in electro and italo. His album "Fuckers from Outer Space" appeared in 1999; the same period saw the release of the mix "Mixed Up in the Hague Vol. 1", focused on italo disco and 1980s electronic sounds. Alongside his DJ work, I‑F founded the labels Viewlexx and Murder Capital, which continued this aesthetic between electro, space disco and rough house, and he launched the online radio platform Intergalactic FM, successor to the Cybernetic Broadcasting System, which became a rallying point for fans of The Hague scene and artists associated with I‑F's sound.
