Hilight Tribe
Hilight Tribe is a French group formed in the 2000s, known for developing a distinctive approach to the electronic scene by performing exclusively with acoustic instruments. Built around a collective, itinerant lineup, the band has focused on intensive live practice and collaborative work in which each member contributes influences from India and Africa to Europe. Over the course of their tours Hilight Tribe shaped an immediately recognizable style, marked by the use of percussion, strings, voices and traditional instruments integrated into a continuous rhythmic structure designed for the stage. Their reputation grew in the early 2010s thanks to tracks that went viral in clubs and at festivals, culminating in the international impact of "Free Tibet", remixed by Vini Vici, which opened up new audiences worldwide. Across their discography Hilight Tribe has pursued conceptual projects and cultural explorations, moving from albums centered on tribal sounds to works blending Asian, African and South American influences. Driven by a community-oriented approach to artistic work and a demanding stage ethic that has taken them to major international venues, Hilight Tribe continues to embody a rare bridge between traditional music and the European electronic scene, maintaining an identity built outside the mainstream for more than twenty years.
