Elliot Minor

Formed in York, England around Alex Davies and Ed Minton, joined by Dan Hetherton, Ed Hetherton and Ali Paul, Elliot Minor develops from its early days a rock writing infused with classical harmonies, partly inherited from the choral and instrumental backgrounds of several members. The band established itself in the mid-2000s with a blend of pop rock, symphonic rock and crafted vocal melodies, where string arrangements, counterpoints and a certain influence of English choral music take a central place. After an initial momentum on the British scene, Elliot Minor released the album Elliot Minor in 2008, followed by Solaris in 2009, and an acoustic version of the latter in 2010. Their journey then took them on tours across the UK, appearances at major festivals such as Reading and Leeds, Download or T in the Park, and a move toward a more independent format after the end of their distribution deal with Warner. Put on hold from 2010, Elliot Minor re-forms periodically in 2014 for a few shows and a single, before announcing a more durable return in 2024. The band's trajectory remains tied to this fairly distinctive blend of rock energy, pop choruses and harmonic writing inspired by the classical tradition.
