Giovanni Mirabassi

Born in Perugia in 1970, Giovanni Mirabassi began practicing piano at an early age before turning to jazz and settling in France in the 1990s. His career sits at the crossroads of classical piano and contemporary jazz, with a strong emphasis on melody, on solo and trio formats, and on a clear, songlike and highly articulated touch. Mirabassi moves between standards, original compositions and reinterpretations of song repertoires, including programmes shaped by political and popular imagery. His discography includes Avanti! (2001), The Swan and the Storm (2022), Live & Kicking (2024) and New York Sessions Vol.1 (2025). Over the years he has collaborated with musicians such as Glenn Ferris, Peter Bernstein and Stefon Harris, while also developing projects featuring voice. In 2017 he co‑founded the label Jazz Eleven with Sarah Lancman, extending an activity that combines performance, composition and production within the French and European jazz scenes.
