Dool
Formed in Rotterdam in 2015 around Raven van Dorst, Dool develops a dark heavy rock sound situated between doom metal, progressive metal, psychedelic and gothic rock, with often elongated tracks and songwriting that blends tension, melody and introspective atmospheres. The project took shape with former members of The Devil’s Blood and quickly made a mark on the Dutch scene at Roadburn Festival in 2016, before embarking on European tours and appearing at festivals such as Hellfest, Wacken, Graspop and Wave-Gotik-Treffen. Dool released its debut album, Here Now, There Then, in 2017, then the EP Love Like Blood in 2019, followed by Summerland in 2020, a record that accentuates the group's progressive and atmospheric dimension. After several lineup changes, Dool continued its trajectory with the live album Visions of Summerland (Live at Arminius Church Rotterdam) in 2023 and The Shape of Fluidity in 2024, an album focused on questions of identity and transformation, linked to Raven van Dorst’s personal experiences. In its current form, Dool operates as a five-piece whose sound combines heavy riffs, post-punk impulses, gothic tones and the legacy of 1990s alternative rock.
