François Feldman

Born in Paris in 1958 and raised in the Île-de-France region, François Feldman belongs to the French chanson variety with a strong imprint of soul, funk and disco-pop inherited from American music of the 1970s. After several early singles at the turn of the 1980s and a stint with the group Yellow Hand, Feldman emerged more widely as a solo artist from 1986 with 'Rien que pour toi', before settling permanently in the French music scene at the end of the decade. His melodic writing, his flexible singing and arrangements blending pop refrains, funk grooves and sentimental ballads take shape on the albums Vivre, vivre (1987), Une présence (1989) and Magic’ Boulevard (1991), which gather several of his best-known tracks, including 'Joue pas' with Joniece Jamison, 'Les Valses de Vienne', 'Petit Frank' and 'Joy'. The collaboration with lyricist Jean-Marie Moreau accompanies this central period of his career. Subsequently, François Feldman continues his discography with Indigo (1993), À contre-jour (1996), Couleurs d’origine (1997), Des larmes et de l’amour (2004), then Vivant (2018), Latino (2020) and L’Origine (2021), in a continuity where French chanson crosses with touches of R&B, Latin and funk. Present on stage in tours and in collective shows tied to the repertoire of the 1980s, François Feldman maintains a career marked by French pop and soul melodies.
