Idiotape
Born on Seoul's club scene in the late 2000s, Idiotape took its current shape in 2010 around Dguru, Zeze and DR, as a trio. The South Korean group develops electronic music that crosses electronica, techno, synth punk, and a rock-derived energy, with a very physical performance where synthesizer sequences and drums occupy a central place. After a first EP, 0805 in 2010, Idiotape released the album 11111101 in 2011, followed by Tours in 2014, the EP RE in 2016 and Dystopian in 2017. Their trajectory quickly built between clubs, festivals and international tours, with appearances at SXSW as early as 2011 and again in 2014, but also at events such as Glastonbury, Exit, Summer Sonic or Trans Musicales. Idiotape sits within a Korean scene that blurs the boundaries between live formats and electronic cultures, while preserving a band-centered approach marked by rhythm, repetition, and melodic tension. Behind its sometimes abrasive textures and motorik motifs, Idiotape maintains a direct writing style, conceived for both the stage and listening.
