Chelsea Cutler
Born in 1997 and hailing from Westport, Connecticut, Chelsea Cutler initially develops an acoustic writing practice before layering electronic textures into her songs, at the crossroads of pop, indie pop, and a soft electro oriented toward song formats. She begins releasing her songs online in the mid-2010s, then releases the Snow in October EP in 2017, followed by the Sleeping with Roses and Sleeping with Roses II mixtapes in 2018, which establish an intimate, melodic register, often carried by airy productions. Chelsea Cutler then moves between the pop and electronic scenes thanks to several collaborations with Louis the Child, Ayokay, Kasbo, Quinn XCII, or Kygo, while developing her own headlining career. In 2019, the Brent project with Jeremy Zucker marks an important step in her trajectory, before the release of her first album How to Be Human in 2020. She then continues with the Brent II EP in 2021, the album When I Close My Eyes the same year, followed by Stellaria in 2023. Her music rests on clear choruses, hushed arrangements, and writing focused on relationships, anxiety, and emotional imbalances, in a format that blends confessional pop, light ambient, and a measured electronic pulse.
