Chasing Abbey
Born in Tullamore, in the heart of Ireland, Chasing Abbey unites three childhood friends crafting a blend of hip-hop, pop and dance-leaning electronic sounds. The act emerged in the mid-2010s off the back of self-produced tracks and steady airplay on Irish radio—most notably the 2017 single “That Good Thing,” which established the trio on the local urban scene. They went on to hone a style in which melodic vocals intertwine with rap flows, set to direct, rhythmic production and hooks built for the stage, while keeping their writing focused on everyday life, relationships and the social dynamics of Irish youth. The release of the EP “The Odyssey Project” in 2018 marked a first structured milestone in Chasing Abbey’s discography and paved the way for a run of singles. From the 2020s onward, the trio has at times woven in melodies drawn from Irish tradition—as on “Oh My Johnny (Banks of the Roses)”—pairing them with contemporary, club-facing production, placing Chasing Abbey at the crossroads of urban pop, melodic rap and a modern reinterpretation of certain folk codes.
