D'Julz
Active since the early 1990s, D’Julz — born Julien Veniel — is a fixture of the Paris electronic scene, working at the intersection of house and techno with a marked taste for deep textures and stripped-down grooves. Based in Paris, he built a long-standing DJ reputation through his residency at the Rex Club, where he launched the Bass Culture nights in the late 1990s, an extension of his A&R and artist-discovery work. At the same time, his discography has focused on maxi singles and EPs, moving between minimal house, American influences and dub touches, with notable releases on Ovum Recordings, 20:20 Vision, Poker Flat, Real Tone and his own imprint, Bass Culture Records, founded in 2009. The track “Da Madness,” released on Ovum in 1999, marked a turning point in his visibility as a producer, followed by numerous productions and remixes across European house scenes. His 2011 mix, “Fabric 58: D’Julz,” showcased his DJ approach built on long transitions, progressive tension-building and a fine attention to rhythmic detail. Regularly invited to clubs and festivals throughout Europe and beyond, D’Julz continues to balance touring, label management and residencies while maintaining a constant link to the house roots of Bass Culture.
