The Gallands

Led by Belgian drummer Stéphane Galland, The Gallands are part of the contemporary jazz scene, developing a project where the legacies of groove, funk and improvised music meet more contemporary textures. Formed in Brussels around members of the Galland family and close collaborators, the group operates like a small rhythmic laboratory, working on flexible structures, off-kilter meters and accessible melodic atmospheres. The Gallands’ first recordings appeared on streaming platforms in the early 2020s, marking the start of a steady practice between studio and stage. The Gallands primarily develop on Belgian and European club and festival stages dedicated to jazz and hybrid forms, adapting the lineup to each context and evolving the repertoire through performances, which progressively anchors the band in an environment where the boundaries between jazz, groove and contemporary music remain open.
