Dan Patlansky
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1981, Dan Patlansky since the late 1990s has developed a career centered on blues rock marked by guitar playing, melodic tension and songwriting anchored in the song format. His discography begins with Standing at the Station in 1999, then True Blues in 2004, Real in 2006, Move My Soul in 2009 and 20 Stones in 2012, followed by a more sustained release pace with Wooden Thoughts in 2013, Dear Silence Thieves in 2014, Introvertigo in 2016, Perfection Kills in 2018, Shelter of Bones in 2022 and Movin’ On in 2024. Dan Patlansky fits into an aesthetic that crosses electric blues, classic rock and soul, with compositions that leave significant room to band dynamics and vocal inflections. Over the years he has played in South Africa as well as internationally, notably in the United Kingdom, and he also opened for Bruce Springsteen in 2014. Dan Patlansky remains associated with a scene where the blues extends into contemporary forms, without straying from a direct and organic sound.
