Antti Railio

Born in Helsinki in 1984, Antti Railio follows a path that links Finnish metal with mainstream rock. A singer who was with Celesty from 2003 to 2009, he contributed to three albums by the symphonic power metal band—Legacy of Hate (2004), Mortal Mind Creation (2006) and Vendetta (2009)—after having sung in Diecell, which sits between thrash and heavy metal, and later in The WildFire. His voice, broad and clear, spans hard rock, soft rock, pop rock and melodic metal, adopting a more direct approach in his solo work. In Finland he first appeared on Idols in 2007 and went on to win The Voice of Finland in 2013, the year he launched his solo discography with the singles Ruostunut ankkuri and Halla ja etelätuuli. That period produced the album Vieras maa in 2014, followed by Mielenrauhaa in 2019 and Ikuisuus in 2020. He also takes part in the Raskasta Joulua project, which reinterprets Christmas songs in a rock and metal aesthetic, and occasionally appears as a backing vocalist or guest on recordings connected to the Nordic metal scene, notably with Cain’s Offering and Stratovarius.
