Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys

Active between South Africa and Europe, Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys develops a project positioned between intimate folk, experimental rock, dream pop and noise pop. The songs are driven by the writing and guitar of South African singer‑guitarist Lucy Kruger, who moved to Berlin after starting out in Cape Town. Built around a shifting core of musicians, the band continues the work Kruger began on the South African independent scene and in the duo Medicine Boy, favoring slow arrangements, textured guitars and a forward vocal that is as much a whisper as a declamation. The release of Sleeping Tapes for Some Girls in 2019 opened a series of albums focused on night, introspection and the relationship to the body, followed by Transit Tapes (for women who move furniture around) in 2021 and Teen Tapes (for performing your own stunts) in 2022. In 2023, Heaving marks a harsher turn, as Kruger’s songs collide with denser structures—sometimes bordering on post‑punk or slowcore—while retaining a strongly narrative quality. On stage, Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys expand these pieces from solo formats to larger lineups, moving between Berlin clubs, DIY networks and European festivals, with constant attention to volume dynamics, silence and proximity to the audience.
