Tales & Ahlam

Straddling Beirut and Paris, Tales & Ahlam shapes a Franco-Lebanese duo that fuses disco, house, and Arab heritage into an Eastern-leaning electro-disco aesthetic centered on dance and song. Born of a meeting at a concert between producer-DJ Bab and singer Célinatique, the project took shape in the studio around an initial track, then a series of recordings that laid the groundwork for an EP titled “Boussa,” conceived as a dialogue between the roots of Western dance music and Lebanese song. Tales & Ahlam foregrounds social, cultural, and generational diversity, drawing on house, hi-NRG, disco, and techno structures interlaced with melodies and vocal turns from the music of the Arab world. A member of the Musique de Fëte collective launched by Nowadays Records and KasbaH, Bab brings experience as a label manager, DJ, and producer, already marked by explorations across the Maghreb where raï and chaâbi motifs meet club-oriented production. For her part, Célinatique provides a grounding in traditional and sacred Arab music, a vocal practice nourished by the great voices of the golden age, and a journey within the indie-pop-electro-tarab band Abaya Road—spotted by Zeid Hamdan—where she performs a multilingual Mediterranean repertoire that now informs Tales & Ahlam’s work.
