Tommy Fleming

Born in Aclare, in County Sligo, Ireland, Tommy Fleming is rooted in a folk register centered on Irish traditional song, with a clear and melodic vocal approach that also leans toward contemporary ballads. His trajectory takes shape in the early 1990s after meeting Phil Coulter, who takes him on tour in the United States, before a stint with De Dannan from 1994, in a frame more anchored in Irish tradition. Tommy Fleming then develops a solo career begun with Different Sides to Life in 1996, notably followed by Restless Spirit in 1998, The Contender in 2000, A Voice of Hope in 2005, A Life Like Mine in 2006, A Journey Home in 2007, The West’s Awake in 2014, Stories in 2016 and All These Years in 2021. His repertoire blends old airs, narrative songs and newer compositions, in a sober acoustic aesthetic where the voice remains at the center. Accompanied on stage by pianist and musical director David Hayes, Tommy Fleming has toured Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, Australia and Japan, alternating concert halls, international tours and live productions tied to his world of Irish song.
