Lalalar

Born in Istanbul, Lalalar crafts music that blends Anatolian psychedelia, rock and electronics within a taut, urban and deliberately abrasive aesthetic. The project first drew attention with a string of singles before releasing Bi Cinnete Bakar in 2022 and En Kötü İyi Olur in 2023. In Lalalar's work, bass lines evoke both vintage soundtrack atmospheres and club music, while guitars, jagged rhythms, processed vocals and borrowings from Anatolia's musical heritage create a highly identifiable language—part trance, part irony, part saturation. The songwriting mixes retro textures with a contemporary pulse without reducing itself to a folkloric reworking, circulating traditional motifs in an electric, synthetic framework. Rooted in Istanbul's alternative scene, Lalalar is moving its sound from a single-focused format toward more constructed albums, while retaining a direct, dense and physical approach.
