Ko Shin Moon

Born in France around Axel Moon, joined from the start by Niko Shin, Ko Shin Moon has since 2017 developed a project at the crossroads of electronic music, psychedelic rock and several musical traditions from South Asia, the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Axel Moon's background, trained in ethnomusicology and having spent time in India where he studied the sitar and Hindustani classical music, illuminates an approach based on collage, reinterpretation and dialogue between ancient repertoires and contemporary forms. After a first self-titled album released in 2017, Ko Shin Moon released 78 Fragments in 2019, conceived from 78 rpm archives as part of a commission by the BnF, then Leïla Nova in 2020, which asserts a more direct balance between electronic pulsation, psychedelic motifs and acoustic instruments. With Miniature I & II in 2022, the project further broadens its scope by inviting several singers from Turkish, Arab and Mediterranean scenes. Sîn, released in 2025, extends this aesthetic by blending original compositions, guest voices and melodic circulations between different cultural areas. Initially thought of as a studio duo, Ko Shin Moon has also expanded on stage in an expanded formation, with a regular presence at festivals in France, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America.
