Combust

Formed in New York in the mid-2010s, Combust stands in the New York hardcore tradition, fusing breakneck energy, a pronounced groove, and a straight-ahead riff sensibility. The band draws on late '80s/early '90s NYHC codes, crafting songs built on tight guitars, a driving rhythm section, and chant-like, barked vocals, often centered on everyday frustration, loss, and personal resilience. After a first demo that put them on the local map, Combust caught the hardcore scene’s attention with the 2018 EP The Void, then solidified its identity with the 2019 album Another Life, which captured more structured songwriting on record without straying from hardcore’s raw framework. Combust tours regularly through the circuit of independent venues and specialist festivals in the United States and abroad, aligning with a generation of bands refreshing the NYHC sound while keeping a direct, no-frills approach.
