Berywam

Formed in Toulouse in 2015, the vocal quartet Berywam specializes in human beatbox and a cappella repertoires at the intersection of hip-hop, pop and electronic music. The name Berywam comes from the initials of the founding members Beatness, Rythmind, Wawad and MB14; MB14 later left the project while the group continued with a renewed line-up. Berywam made a name for itself on the battle scene by winning the French team beatbox championship in 2016 and a world title in 2018, before broadening its audience through online videos combining covers, themed medleys and original compositions. Berywam’s performances rely on a collective construction in which each voice plays a distinct role — from vocal percussion and bass lines to melodic parts — aiming to recreate the energy of a full band using only the mouth. Since then the group has undertaken tours in France and internationally and appeared on television, including mainstream talent shows, while gradually developing its own repertoire around formats close to song and rap.
