Hippocampe Fou

French rapper based in Paris, Hippocampe Fou has been developing a French-language hip‑hop since the early 2010s in which narrative writing plays a central role. First noticed through videos and tracks shared online, he belongs to an independent rap scene that experiments with storytelling conventions, wordplay and self‑deprecation. His first full‑length album, Aquatrip, was released in 2013 and established an aesthetic built around aquatic metaphors; it was followed by Céleste in 2015 and Terminus in 2018, confirming an approach that blends rap rhythms, pop‑tinged melodies and electronic touches. On stage, Hippocampe Fou alternates between club shows, festivals and theaters, sometimes presenting formats that mix music with a quasi‑theatrical dimension. Across his projects he has frequently collaborated with producers and rappers from the francophone world, while maintaining a strong interest in cinematic atmospheres, popular‑culture references and introspective lyrics often laced with subtle humor.
