The Commoners

Based in Toronto, Canada, The Commoners have been developing since the mid-2010s a rock style heavily influenced by southern rock, blues rock and classic rock. The band relies on melodic electric guitars, a sturdy rhythm section and vocal work marked by soul-inflected backing vocals, crafting songs that alternate between mid-tempo ballads and more straightforward tracks. After a self-produced eponymous debut released in 2016, The Commoners refined their approach on Find A Better Way (2022), where riffs inspired by 1970s rock meet touches of North American roots rock and more contemporary arrangements. Active on the Ontario live circuit and later on venue and festival circuits beyond Canada, The Commoners emphasize an organic sound centered on group interplay, with significant space for vocal harmonies and guitar solos. This approach situates the Toronto band within a classic rock continuum while preserving a distinct identity in the current blues-rock scene.
