Bazart

Bringing Dutch‑language pop into an indie and electronic register, Bazart formed in the early 2010s in Flanders around Mathieu Terryn, Simon Nuytten and Oliver Symons. Initially a trio, they frequently expand their live lineup with additional musicians. Bazart first made an impact on the Belgian scene with a self‑titled EP in 2015 and consolidated their sound with the album Echo in 2016, which established their blend of synthetic pop, understated guitars and electro‑tinged rhythms, all carried by Dutch‑language lyrics that are often introspective. Their trajectory continued with 2 in 2019 and Onderweg in 2021, marking a shift toward songwriting that is more open to collaborations—most notably with Dutch singer‑songwriter Eefje de Visser—and toward denser productions where keyboards and electronic textures take centre stage. Onstage, Bazart appear at major Belgian festivals such as Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop, while also developing theatre‑style concerts that emphasise the contrast between pop energy and more melancholic atmospheres. In just a few years Bazart has established itself as one of the key projects of contemporary Flemish pop, sitting at the crossroads of indie pop, synth‑pop and Dutch‑language songcraft attentive to language and melody.
