Padre Guilherme
Born in Guimarães in northern Portugal in 1974, Guilherme Peixoto has been pursuing his musical activity under the name Padre Guilherme since 2020, alongside his path as a Catholic priest, which began in 1999. It was during a mission as a military chaplain in Afghanistan in the early 2010s that he started mixing; he later trained more formally as a DJ and organised parish‑related nights in Portugal. During the Covid‑19 period, Padre Guilherme regularly streamed sets online and developed an approach that blends techno and danceable electronic music with elements from religious and popular traditions—bells, liturgical quotations or themes like Ave Maria. This aesthetic is reflected in his releases, including the track “Ave Maria” with Karetus (2022), the EP Povoa Bendita (2023), the EP Selfish Love II (2024), as well as Veneremur Et Adoremus with Ebmath and Integral Ecology (2025). Padre Guilherme expanded his live presence with a notable set at World Youth Day in Lisbon in 2023, followed by appearances in Brazil, Spain and Chile, in a register where spirituality, club culture and techno meet head‑on.
