Mimaa, whose real name is Laury Perez, is a French artist of Spanish and Sicilian descent for whom performance has always been central. As a teenager she became passionate about musicals and their stage codes, prompting her to leave Occitanie at 17 and move to Paris. There she gained varied professional experience — from dancing on television and covering roles in The Wizard of Oz to recording film soundtracks. Her trajectory shifted toward a personal project when she met beatmaker El Speaker, with whom she shaped her first tracks, including 'Gypsy', which launched her career. Mimaa later released two EPs, Amore and Soleil, produced with different collaborators including El Speaker, Mike Bangerz, Alchimeek, MKL and Chico & The Gypsies. She has developed a structured approach around cartomancy, associating each song with a tarot card as a way to organize her projects and define their guiding line. Signed to Warner Chappell and later to Parlophone (Warner Music France) in 2024, she is preparing a new EP announced by the single 'Fille du sud (Lambada)', released on 31 May 2024.
