Fancy Hagood
Born Jake Hagood in Bentonville, Arkansas, Fancy Hagood has built his trajectory between the American South and Nashville’s music scene. After high school he moved to Nashville, began writing and performing locally, and first emerged in 2015 under the moniker Who Is Fancy with the pop single "Goodbye". A few years later he reoriented the project and adopted the name Fancy Hagood, shifting toward more personal songwriting and a sound that blends confessional pop, contemporary country and touches of glam rock, with a strong focus on intimate narratives and the tensions between identity, public image and Southern heritage. He released the album Southern Curiosity in 2021, where this new direction takes clear shape. His career also includes collaborations with Devon Gilfillian, Abby Anderson and Kacey Musgraves, consistent with his grounding between Nashville, American pop and current forms of country. Fancy Hagood has opened for mainstream pop tours before refocusing his project on a more direct, personal expression.
