Katie Pruitt

Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1994 and based in Nashville, Katie Pruitt has developed a songwriting voice that sits between Americana, folk, alternative country, melodic rock and pop, with songs focused on coming of age, mental health, relationships and the relation to faith. After growing up in Atlanta's suburbs, singing in musical theatre and playing open mics in Athens, Katie Pruitt continued her studies at Belmont University in Nashville, where she gained recognition as a songwriter. Her emergence sharpened with the OurVinyl Live Session EP in 2018, before her debut album Expectations appeared in 2020, establishing a direct songwriting approach rooted in Southern folk and a production that blends acoustic guitars, rock surges and pop choruses. Katie Pruitt then collaborated with Donovan Woods on "She Waits for Me to Come Back Down" in 2020, appeared on stages such as the Newport Folk Festival in 2021, and further broadened her palette with Mantras in 2024, a record where her approach remains anchored in intimate confession as much as in contemporary American songwriting.
