Lancelot

Part of a young francophone pop scene, Lancelot develops a form of French chanson tinged with danceable pop, writing that focuses on the intimate, the everyday incongruities and the doubts of a generation pushed to measure up. As a singer-songwriter, he relies on a soft, low voice and on lyrics where nostalgia, a simple poetic sensibility and discreet humour coexist with more direct themes such as emotional longing, fragility and social disenchantment. His trajectory so far revolves around a first EP and a second, Pas assez, announced for 2025, which extends this approach by exploring lack, the need for love and the pressure placed on male identities. Lancelot moves within a French-language pop aesthetic that is direct and melodic without overt lyricism, where the momentum of the songs often contrasts with the restraint of the subject matter. Through the tension between catchy tracks and more introspective words, Lancelot maps out a coherent universe rooted in contemporary sensibilities.
