DO not DO

Led by the duo Romy and Iskander, DO not DO emerged in 2021 from a meeting of electronic sensibilities and an abrasive rock heritage. The two musicians, whose musical backgrounds differ sharply, combine synthetic textures, taut pulses and guitar energy to shape a hybrid sound where club-adjacent rhythms coexist with the tensions typical of alternative rock scenes. The lyrics, in French and English, explore the grey areas of youth in the early 2020s — torn between carefreeness, nocturnal hedonism and more or less explicit forms of engagement — oscillating between poetic phrasing and a more frontal take on everyday life. From 2021 onward, DO not DO released their first tracks online and gradually built an identity centered on the friction between direct melodies, electronic structures and prominently featured vocals, adopting an approach that lets urgency, introspection and social observation coexist.
