Irie Ites

Active since the late 1990s, Irie Ites has been developing out of Le Mans within the French reggae scene by combining sound system activity, a record label and a production team. The Irie Ites collective operates musically at the crossroads of roots reggae, dancehall and dub, with a focus on riddims and on showcasing singers and DJs from Jamaica and Europe. In the studio Irie Ites produces numerous singles and series of riddims featuring successive Jamaican, francophone and anglophone voices, in an aesthetic that blends rub‑a‑dub influences, digital sonorities and heavy basslines inherited from sound system culture. The Irie Ites Records label supports these productions through regular releases of maxis, compilations and collaborations, while the Irie Ites sound system performs on the stages of clubs, venues and festivals specialized in reggae and urban music. This dual live and recording activity places Irie Ites within an international network of collaborations and tours.
