Alexis Taylor

Born in London in 1980, Alexis Taylor creates music that sits between electronic pop, intimate songwriting and more abstract experiments. As singer and keyboardist of Hot Chip, he has also pursued a solo career since the late 2000s, exploring a stripped-down, introspective side of his writing. His first solo album, Rubbed Out, was released in 2008, followed by Nayim From The Halfway Line (2013), Await Barbarians (2014), Piano (2016), Listen With(out) Piano (2017), Beautiful Thing (2018) and Silence (2021), alternating between electronic formats, voice- and piano-centered pieces and more pop-oriented songs. Taylor is also involved in About Group and various collaborative projects, which has led him to appear on both independent rock stages and in contexts linked to electronic music and sound art. As a solo performer he appears in variable setups — from piano-and-voice to more club-oriented rigs — working with repetition, slow grooves and a melodic use of the voice.
