Alphaville

Founded in 1983 in Münster by Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd and Frank Mertens, Alphaville quickly established itself as a leading force in German synth-pop with three tracks that came to define the 1980s: Big in Japan, Sounds Like a Melody, and Forever Young. The latter has become a global classic, continually revisited and rediscovered by successive generations. After seven studio albums and international tours, the band returned to the charts in 2010 with Catching Rays on Giant and the single I Die for You Today. In 2022, Alphaville cemented its comeback with Eternally Yours, a symphonic triple album that reached the German Top 5, accompanied by a sold-out tour with the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg. In 2024, marking its 40th anniversary, the group released the compilation Forever! Best of 40 Years, while Forever Young enjoyed a worldwide resurgence, fueled by TikTok virality and a new version by David Guetta, Alphaville and Ava Max. Awarded the European Culture Prize in 2025, Alphaville continues to tour through 2026 and is preparing a new album, extending the legacy of a band that has become essential to the history of electronic pop.
