Haddaway
Born in Trinidad and Tobago as Nestor Alexander Haddaway, Haddaway spent part of his youth in the United States before settling in Germany, where his musical path took shape in the early 1990s. His name became linked to the eurodance wave sweeping Europe at the time, with a sound that sat between dance-pop, vocal house and very direct pop choruses. He rose to fame in 1993 with the single “What Is Love” and followed with tracks such as “Life”, “I Miss You” and “Rock My Heart”, a style built on club rhythms, prominent synth lines and soulful delivery. This initial phase fit within the European dance scene of the era, especially active in Germany. His discography includes The Album (1993), The Drive (1995), Let’s Do It Now (1998) and My Face (2001), which demonstrate a move toward more flexible electronic pop without abandoning his dance roots. Over the years Haddaway has continued to perform live, often at events dedicated to the 1990s and to dance music, where he maintains a repertoire tied to that period while continuing his recording work.
