KÁRYYN
Syro-Armenian-American composer, producer and singer, KÁRYYN develops music at the crossroads of experimental electronics, ambient, avant-pop and a vocal writing close to lyric singing. Her work, nourished by reflections on physics, Eastern philosophies and deep listening, assembles shifting soundscapes, low pulses, orchestral textures and taut voices into a form that converses as much with the concert hall as it does with image and performance. After several years of solitary research, KÁRYYN released The Quanta Series in 2019 on Mute, a debut album built around family memory, lineage and mourning. She subsequently evolved her language toward more rhythmic structures while maintaining an introspective and highly architectural approach to sound. Recent collaborators on her productions include James Ford, Hudson Mohawke and Marta Salogni, notably on the Physics Universal Love Language project. KÁRYYN’s trajectory has also intersected with Brian Eno, Björk and Marina Abramovic in a space located between experimental music, stage creation and contemporary practices.
