Piezo
Under the name Luca Mucci, Piezo takes shape in Milan in the wake of dubstep and the evolutions of British bass music, before a period in Bristol further roots his work in sound system culture and England’s alternative electronic scenes. Piezo develops a language of fractured rhythms, supple basslines, pointillist or more misty textures, and a compositional approach that draws as much from the UK club as from percussive techno and more experimental forms of the dancefloor. Over the course of his career he has released on labels such as Idle Hands, Swamp81 and Wisdom Teeth — coherent touchstones for a scene attentive to hybridizations between club music, breakbeat, dub and rhythmic abstraction. At the same time, Piezo founded Ansia, a label conceived as a direct extension of his practice, releasing his own tracks alongside those of artists close to that aesthetic. Among his recent releases, Odd Hooks appeared in 2023 on Ansia, and 2024 marks a new stage with a remix of “Ganzfeld” by Objekt and an EP for Dekmantel’s UFO series, where his writing further accentuates speed, percussive tension and resonances drawn from 1990s and 2000s club music.
