Maria Somerville

Based between Dublin and Ireland’s west coast, Maria Somerville creates music that blends misty dream pop, minimalist folk and lo‑fi ambient. Born and raised in the Connemara region, she draws heavily on Atlantic landscapes and traditional songs, filtering them through intimate songwriting and a marked taste for distant textures, reverb and chiaroscuro‑like melodies. After releasing several tracks online in the mid‑2010s, the 2019 album All My People established her on the Irish indie scene with slow songs, sometimes sung in English or in Gaelic, where the voice melts into layers of guitar, discreet pulses and almost cinematic atmospheres. Active as a solo artist but also collaborating with musicians from folk, experimental and electronic spheres, she performs in clubs and festivals across Ireland and the UK, shaping her live shows as rougher, more stretched variations of her studio recordings.
