Wendy Eisenberg

Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Wendy Eisenberg has since the 2010s developed a career at the crossroads of indie song, experimental rock, jazz, and free improvisation. A guitarist, composer and improviser, Eisenberg moves her writing between solo formats and collaborative projects, with an approach where folk structures can deform toward more abstract, noise-influenced or open forms. Her discography includes Its Shape Is Your Touch (2018), Auto (2020) and Viewfinder (2024), three milestones that show different ways of articulating voice, guitar and formal exploration. In parallel with her own recordings, Eisenberg has pursued collaborations in the DIY, experimental and jazz scenes along the East Coast, playing in contexts ranging from songwriting to collective improvisation. Her guitar playing, often highly mobile, alternates between clear lines, dissonances, rhythmic ruptures and freer textures, without settling into a single idiom. Eisenberg thus places herself in a network of artists for whom the borders between composition, performance and experimentation remain porous, with a trajectory marked by constant circulation between clubs, alternative spaces and festivals dedicated to adventurous music.
