VÆB

Formed in Kópavogur by brothers Hálfdán Helgi Matthíasson and Matthías Davíð Matthíasson, VÆB launched in 2022 with a first track shared on TikTok, “Aron Can (Borðar kál)”, before establishing itself more broadly on the Icelandic pop scene. The VÆB project develops an Icelandic-language formula that blends electronic pop, light hip‑hop and synthetic choruses, with short, direct songs often built around a very frontal energy. After the album Væb tékk in 2022, VÆB released a string of singles and collaborations, then in 2024 published the EP Væbauer with Ingi Bauer. That same year the duo took part in Söngvakeppnin, Iceland’s Eurovision selection, with “Bíómynd”, which reached the final. VÆB then won the 2025 edition with “Róa”, a synth‑pop track sung in Icelandic, and represented Iceland at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, where the duo qualified for the final and finished 25th. Signed to Alda Music, VÆB has continued a trajectory focused on accessible, rhythmic electronic pop closely tied to the current codes of Nordic youth scenes, with a new album, Væbout, released in 2026.
