2 Chainz

Born Tauheed Epps in College Park, in the Atlanta area, 2 Chainz is part of the Southern hip-hop and Southern US trap tradition, characterized by a verbose rap style, direct hooks, and production often marked by heavy bass and slow tempos. Initially active under the name Tity Boi, he formed the duo Playaz Circle with Dolla Boy in the late 1990s; they signed to Ludacris’s label Disturbing Tha Peace and gained wider recognition with the 2007 single “Duffle Bag Boy.” His solo career solidified in 2011 when he changed his name and released the mixtape T.R.U. REALigion, followed by increased visibility through collaborations with Kanye West, Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne. 2 Chainz then released Based on a T.R.U. Story (2012), B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time (2013) and ColleGrove with Lil Wayne (2016), a partnership he continued with Welcome 2 Collegrove in 2023. Meanwhile he refined his writing on Pretty Girls Like Trap Music (2017), Rap or Go to the League (2019), So Help Me God! (2020) and Dope Don’t Sell Itself (2022), while developing his collective T.R.U. In 2025 he also appears on the joint project Life Is Beautiful with Larry June and The Alchemist.
