Juicy J

Born Jordan Michael Houston III in Memphis, Tennessee, Juicy J emerged in the early 1990s on the local underground as a cofounder of Three 6 Mafia alongside DJ Paul and Lord Infamous. His career is rooted in Southern hip-hop, with an aesthetic shaped by Memphis rap, crunk, trap and horrorcore-tinged tones, driven by dark productions, heavy beats and a blunt writing style aimed at both club energy and the raw atmosphere of regional mixtapes. Alongside the group’s albums, Juicy J released Chronicles of the Juice Man in 2002 and Hustle Till I Die in 2009, then more clearly revived his solo career during Three 6 Mafia’s hiatus in the early 2010s. His alignment with Wiz Khalifa and Taylor Gang marked this new phase, which took shape with the single “Bandz a Make Her Dance” and the album Stay Trippy in 2013. Juicy J has since continued with solo projects, features and production work, including Rubba Band Business in 2017 and The Hustle Continues in 2020. He is also linked to Three 6 Mafia’s legacy through “It’s Hard out Here for a Pimp,” written for the film Hustle & Flow and awarded the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2006.
