Culture Wars
Based in Austin, Texas, Culture Wars built itself within the local indie circuit around Alex Dugan, alongside David Grayson, Dillon Randolph, Caleb Contreras and Josh Stirm. The quintet develops an alternative rock with taut lines, where nervous guitars, pronounced rhythms and more pop-leaning melodies come together in a direct format, sometimes approaching new wave and post‑punk in its sense of tension and drive. Culture Wars began to attract attention with a series of singles and then with the EP teche, an important step in asserting their sonic identity. The band later expanded its visibility beyond the Texas scene, notably through active online circulation and presence within American alternative networks. In their songs, Culture Wars works a balance between rock energy, expressive vocal delivery and clean choruses, with songwriting intended to remain straightforward without becoming showy. This combination places Culture Wars within a generation of American bands that blend indie formats, post‑punk tension and melodic efficiency without confining themselves to a single aesthetic.
