Kelly Moran

Trained in classical piano on Long Island, New York, Kelly Moran develops work at the intersection of contemporary music, experimentation, and electronics. Based in New York, the composer and pianist is interested in the sonic possibilities of the prepared piano and in repetitive structures, which she combines with electronic textures and harmonic writing close to minimalism and ambient music. After several low-profile releases, Kelly Moran issued the album Optimist in 2016 and Bloodroot in 2017, positioning her within an experimental scene that blends classical heritage and avant-garde language. Later signed to Warp Records, she released Ultraviolet in 2018, the EP Origin in 2019, and Moves in the Field in 2024, continuing to explore a universe that mixes detailed pianistic motifs, prepared textures, and subtle electronic treatments. Alongside her solo projects, Kelly Moran regularly collaborates with electronic musician Oneohtrix Point Never and composes for audiovisual and choreographic projects, placing her work within a network of transdisciplinary creations around contemporary experimental music.
