orbit

Led by German producer and singer-songwriter Marcel Heym, orbit is an electronic project where stripped-back acoustic guitars blend with layers of atmospheric synths. Born from back-and-forth journeys between Berlin and the countryside of his native region, orbit translates the contrast between urban bustle and rural daily life into music, with songwriting marked by nostalgia and hazy vocals. Trained in music production in his early twenties, Marcel Heym left the German capital and launched orbit as a personal project, releasing a first EP, Perspectives, in 2020. Without a record label, orbit is organized around a small collective of friends who handle visuals, videos and handcrafted merchandise, extending the project’s DIY aesthetic. From 2021, orbit increased live shows across Germany, Switzerland and Austria, then worked with its community to stage a series of co‑organized dates in intimate settings — gardens, forests and private festivals. orbit’s live activity later expanded across Europe, with festival appearances, a tour opening for Parra for Cuva and a first headline club tour. Announced for April 2023, orbit’s third EP explores a darker side of this dreamlike electro universe, where synthetic textures grow denser while still keeping guitars and vocals front and centre.
