Based in Highland Park, a neighborhood of Los Angeles, zzzahara develops a project where indie rock, bedroom pop and shoegaze-tinged shades intersect, carried by melodic guitars and direct vocal lines. Raised in a Mexican‑Filipino background, zzzahara draws his songwriting from everyday Angelino stories—intimacy, fraught friendships and nocturnal wanderings. Before focusing on this solo project, zzzahara played in various local formations and notably stood out in the duo The Simps with Eyedress, with whom he released the album “Siblings” in 2021. That same year, a series of tracks released online gradually established zzzahara’s lo‑fi, melancholic world, which gained definition on his first solo album “liminal spaces” (2022), marked by a balance between luminous guitar pop and hazier textures. In 2023, the album “Tender” extended this trajectory by refining the songwriting—still centered on simple structures, spare arrangements and a constant tension between rock energy and an embraced fragility—confirming zzzahara as a singular voice in Los Angeles’ independent scene.
