Info
On January 17, 2027, Celtic Connections lands at Saint Luke's & The Winged Ox in Glasgow with Damien Dempsey and Ellie Beaton for a night built around voices, stories, and that unique folk feeling where the room starts singing as one.
Damien Dempsey brings the kind of live set that blurs the line between gig and gathering: Irish folk at the core, acoustic balladry with hints of reggae in the pulse, and lyrics delivered in his unmistakable Dublin accent. Expect songs that move between everyday realities, memory, and a raw sense of hope, carried by a powerful vocal presence and a crowd that’s very much part of the show.
Opening the evening, Ellie Beaton represents a new wave of Scottish trad: Scots-language singing shaped by the northeast Doric tradition, lifted by a classical vocal training that gives her phrasing extra reach. It’s a chance to hear a young artist who’s been making her mark on the Scottish folk circuit, right here in Glasgow.
